Good demand for small apples has boosted sales of bulk fruit in recent days. According to agents consulted by Hortifrúti/Cepea, there is a greater demand for quality apples at more affordable prices, requirements met by Cat 1 bulk. This scenario, combined with the lower supply, favored the prices – the lower availability is linked to the fact that several Sorters have been working with 1 kg packages, including sizes 220 and 250, which would normally be intended for bulk sale.
Between September 14th and 18th, prices for gala calibers 220 and 250 Cat 1 sold in bulk recorded averages of R$ 54,00 and 50,30/box of 18 kg, respectively, in the classification regions. The same Fuji profiles were sold at R$ 53,00 and 50,20/box of 18 kg. As for large fruits, although there is no great demand, limited supply continues to support prices. Last week, the Gala 110 Cat 1 was sold for an average of R$ 100,38/box of 18 kg in the average of the classifying regions.
