Brado obtained certification by the Responsible Brazilian Cotton program for Cotton Retroport Terminals, ABR-LOG. This is an initiative of the Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers (Abrapa), in partnership with the National Association of Cotton Exporters (Anea), and is part of the scope of the Cotton Brazil program. The latter aims to promote Brazilian fiber on the international market, and is the result of a partnership between Abrapa, Anea and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

Like ABR, aimed at certifying farms that cultivate the commodity, and ABR-UBA, which covers cotton processing units, ABR-LOG is also a socio-environmental certification program, with additional emphasis on the quality of operations of stuffing containers. The focus is the link responsible for receiving bales, storage, stuffing the container, until shipment. Its objective is to contribute to the improvement of the entire cotton export process, ensuring efficiency and preserving the integrity of the bales until their destination.

Compliant Sheila Minski (in the photo), executive manager of people, ESG and compliance at Brado, certification is very important to further increase the quality standard of Brazilian cotton and the international market's perception of this quality, both in terms of product and good quality. socio-environmental practices.

"For Brado, it is recognition of the work dedicated to lint that we have developed in recent years in Mato Grosso and comes at a very significant moment in which we are starting a new operation on the North-South Railway, with cotton from Bahia and Goiás", it says.

To obtain the ABR-LOG, Brado underwent an audit by Control Union at its terminal dedicated to cotton in Rondonópolis (MT), in October 2023. Work-related items were analyzed, such as the prohibition of child and slave labor, occupational health and safety, freedom of union association, regularity of employment contracts. The company obtained 100% approval on all items. In addition, environmental performance and good practices for ensuring cotton quality were verified, such as carrying out a checklist upon arrival of trucks and cleaning containers.

The ABR-LOG protocol is divided into eight criteria: employment contract, prohibition of child labor, prohibition of work analogous to slavery, freedom of union association, prohibition of discrimination against people, safety, occupational health and work environment, performance environmental and good stuffing practices.
