BP Bunge Bioenergia's 11 agro-industrial units now have certification from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The registration verifies the sustainability of the ethanol production process and the business and also allows the export of biofuel to the American market.

Present in the states of Goiás, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Tocantins and Mato Grosso do Sul, with operations in 54 municipalities, BP Bunge has the capacity to produce 1,7 billion liters/year of ethanol per harvest. A clean and renewable source, the use of ethanol provides a reduction of up to 90% in GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions compared to gasoline, when evaluating the complete life cycle of the fuel.

For Mario Lindenhayn, executive president and Board of Directors of BP Bunge Bioenergia, the global demand for safe and renewable energy with low carbon emissions tends to grow. “And biofuels, such as ethanol, will be a fundamental part of this energy transition to a more sustainable and less polluting model,” he says.

“We want to play a leading role in a rapid transition to a low-carbon future. This certification in all our units is another step in this direction and is in line with our agenda of commitments for 2030, which brings targets focused on climate change with a focus on reducing emissions”, explains Lindenhayn.

BP Bunge Bioenergia's agro-industrial plants follow international quality standards, with certifications for food safety and product sustainability. In addition to the EPA, all of the company's units are also certified for Renovabio, a national biofuel incentive policy established to reduce greenhouse gases.
