BP Bunge Bioenergia, one of the largest sugarcane processors in Brazil, joins the United Nations (UN) Global Compact. The entity aims to mobilize the business community in the adoption and promotion of universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and combating corruption.

With more than 17 thousand participants in almost 170 countries, the initiative has more than 1300 members in Brazil and its mission is to engage the private sector in the global agenda of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), created in 2015 during the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development.

“Joining the initiative represents our commitment to acting on topics that are relevant to both society and business, as sustainable development is an urgent and global challenge”, says Mario Lindenhayn, Executive President and Board of Directors of BP Bunge Bioenergy. “Integrated into this network, we have the opportunity to improve and scale the contributions of the renewable energy business to the SDGs.”

In 2021, BP Bunge released its ESG goals for the first 10 years of operation, “Our Commitments 2030”, organized into the pillars of Planet, People, Governance Principles and Prosperity. Aligned with the company's business strategy and the UN SDGs, the commitments are related to climate change, energy efficiency, biodiversity, human capital and economic development.
