Book provides instructions on maintenance and operation of agricultural machinery

A new publication promises to help professionals and students in the field of agricultural machinery. This is the “Adjustments and maintenance of agricultural machinery”, launched by Editora UFSM, which addresses, in practical and objective way, the main types of equipment used in agriculture, such as tractors, seeders, sprayers, harvesters and haymaking.

The book also teaches how to make adjustments, calibrations and basic maintenance of this equipment, in addition to presenting practical examples and operational routines. The authors are experts in subject and aim to support the consultation of technicians, producers and academics who wish to learn about different machines and implements available on the market.

The work covers an extensive range of topics related to agriculture in its eight distinct chapters. Starting with agricultural tractors, Chapter 1 details everything from vehicle maintenance and operation to the adjustment of vital systems such as brakes and tires. Chapter 2 focuses on tillage equipment, including disc plows and harrows. The third chapter introduces seeders, planters and transplanters. In Chapter 4, agricultural sprayers are explored in terms of working speed and chemical application. Chapter 5 deals with distributors of solid products. Grain harvesters are the highlight of Chapter 6, covering everything from operation to maintenance. Chapter 7 is dedicated to animal husbandry equipment, such as implements for silage and haymaking. Finally, Chapter 8 explores the structure and operation of rural workshops, including mobile workshops.
