The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) will make R$66,5 billion available in the 2024/2025 Harvest Plan (an increase of 73% compared to the last harvest year), to finance investments in Brazilian agriculture, the largest budget ever offered by the Bank. Protocols open next Wednesday, 17th.

Of the R$33,5 billion that will feature interest rate equalization, R$18,7 billion will be for medium and large producers in corporate agriculture, with interest rates between 7% and 12% per year. The amount represents an increase of 26% compared to the last harvest year.

According to the president of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante, BNDES has been resuming its fundamental role in the Safra Plan and in supporting the agricultural sector. “In two years the Bank made an extraordinary leap: we increased resources by 57% last year and more than 70% this year, demonstrating the Federal Government's attention to an essential sector for our country, which is the third largest food producer in the world and the second largest exporter”, he stated.

The amounts will be made available by BNDES through the Federal Government's Agricultural Programs (PAGFs), which make up the 2024/2025 Harvest Plan, have determined deadlines and budgets, and are equalized by the National Treasury.

The term runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. For corporate agriculture, resources will be offered through 12 programs, including Moderfrota, Pronamp, Moderagro, Renovagro, Inovagro and PCA.

“The robust support from BNDES in the 2024/2025 Harvest Plan, with an increase of 73% over the previous harvest year, demonstrates the commitment of BNDES and its partners to agricultural investment plans, considering the importance of this sector for the Brazil and also the positive impacts that this sector generates in several other economic segments, such as infrastructure and industry”, assessed the superintendent of the Operations and Digital Channels Area at BNDES, Marcelo Porteiro.

BNDES Rural Credit

One of the main operators of PAGFs, BNDES also offers its own, permanent and non-equalizable credit lines to the agricultural sector with the Treasury. Among them, the highlight is BNDES Crédito Rural, focused on investment projects, isolated acquisition of machines, funding and support for cooperatives, whose approvals have already reached more than R$ 23,5 billion for around 40 thousand operations, since its inception. creation.

Over the next 12 months, the solution's budget will increase from R$12 billion to R$33 billion. With this, the Bank will make a total of R$66,5 billion available to the Brazilian agricultural sector in the current harvest year.

Of this amount, R$8 billion will be available from the line with financial cost in US dollars of the BNDES Crédito Rural product. Created in April last year, the objective of the solution is to expand and diversify credit alternatives at more competitive costs for the agribusiness sector, which is intensively exporting. Until June/2024, BNDES has already approved around R$5,8 billion for 3,8 operations, more than 95% of which will be allocated to the acquisition of machinery and equipment.
