The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) today made available an additional R$2,2 billion for credit operations within the scope of programs of the 2024-2025 Harvest Plan. With this measure, the total resources still available in the different Agricultural Programs of the Federal Government (PAGF) to be transferred by the Bank is R$11,2 billion, with a deadline for use until June 2025.

The resources may be used by rural producers, cooperatives and family farmers to cover costs and invest in various purposes, including expanding production, purchasing machinery and equipment, storage and innovation.

“BNDES is one of the main supporters of the Brazilian agricultural sector, financing investments by both agribusinesses and small farmers. Following the federal government’s strategy, we increased the budget for this harvest by 73%, reaching the largest budget ever offered by the Bank,” highlights BNDES president Aloizio Mercadante.

In total, BNDES is making R$66,5 billion available in the 2024/2025 Harvest Plan (R$38,4 billion in the last harvest), of which R$14,8 billion is earmarked for small family farmers, representing an increase of 28% compared to the last harvest year.

In this 2024-2025 Harvest Plan, the Bank has already approved R$17,1 billion and responded to requests for more than 81 thousand operations, through indirect operations, carried out by the network of accredited financial agents.

"BNDES is a great partner of Brazilian agriculture, attentive to the needs of the sector and always seeking solutions to offer credit to those who need to invest, with innovative lines, serving producers and cooperatives, fostering social development", says the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro.

In addition to the Federal Government's Agricultural Programs (PAGFs), BNDES also offers its own solutions to guarantee the supply of credit to the agricultural sector throughout the year, such as BNDES Crédito Rural. In the current harvest, the product has already totaled R$1,9 billion in approved operations.
