The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) announced this Thursday (26/01) the reopening of protocols and contracting of new credit operations within the scope of the Federal Government's Agricultural Programs (PAGF). After suspending protocols in the second half of 2022, due to the level of resource commitment, the reopening on February 1st provides for an additional R$2,9 billion in support for both family farming (R$491 million) and business (R$ 2,4 billion), for funding and investment in its most diverse purposes, such as production expansion and modernization projects, acquisition of machinery and equipment, sustainability, storage, innovation and modernization of cooperatives.
BNDES is a great supporter of the agricultural sector and its resources reach rural producers and their cooperatives mainly through partner financial agents. In the 2022/23 Harvest Plan, R$16 billion has already been approved through partner institutions, including development agencies, car manufacturers' banks, credit unions, cooperative banks, private banks and public banks. This operating model allows for a decentralized distribution of resources throughout the country, facilitates the development of public policy to support agriculture and has already reached 70 thousand rural producers and their cooperatives since July 1, 2022.
Even during the suspension of the PAGF operations protocol, which occurred in the current Harvest Plan, the BNDES continued to provide credit to rural producers and cooperatives through other proprietary solutions, such as the BNDES Rural Credit Product, which guarantees continuity in the supply of resources to the sector . Since the beginning of the current Harvest Year, in June 2022, until mid-January, around R$2,8 billion were approved within the scope of the product which, since its launch in 2020, has already reached more than R$11,2 billion , distributed in around 26,9 thousand operations.
