Biotechnology products stimulate growth and increase productivity in potato cultivation

Nestled in the Triângulo Mineiro region, which is located between the Grande and Paranaíba rivers, bordering the States of São Paulo, Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul, the small city of Perdizes (with around 16 thousand inhabitants) is home to Fazenda Agro Petrachi.

Managed by rural producer, Sérgio Luiz Petrachi, who has been dedicated to growing legumes, wheat and coffee for over 32 years, the farm has 2.400 hectares, of which 920 are exclusively dedicated to growing potatoes.

In fact, the farmer could not have chosen a better place for his property, as the Triângulo Mineiro region occupies sixth place in the productivity ranking, being considered one of the largest potato producers in Brazil.

Better results with biotechnology

Sérgio Petrachi acquired the property between 1997 and 1998. But it was only in 2011 that he started cultivating potatoes. The producer says that, over the past few years, his plantation has been experiencing progressive growth. A major factor in this result was the use of Superbac biotechnological fertilizers. The producer describes that he started using the products three years ago, in a small area and, later, extended the use to 100% of the plantation. “We already had experience with other organomineral fertilizers, but it was with Superbac that we had the best results, and what caught our attention the most was all the technology that exists combined with these products”, he emphasizes.

Within his annual schedule, the Agro Petrachi administrator starts harvesting in July and ends in November and, with the use of Superbac biotechnological fertilizers, he noticed important changes. “There was greater development of the plant, with better and stronger rooting, more resistant crops and a greener appearance of the plantation. Furthermore, the application of the products resulted in a 5% increase in productivity”, he highlights.

Sérgio Petrachi also highlights an average growth of 10% in potato crops with the use of biotechnological fertilizers, as well as a significant improvement in the soil microbiota.

All these benefits happen thanks to Superbac's Supergan line of fertilizers.
