This Wednesday, August 18th, at 14pm, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation - Embrapa, linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, is holding the webinar "Bioeconomy and circular economy in fruit and cassava farming", organized by Embrapa Cassava and Fruit growing (Cruz das Almas, BA).

The bioeconomy can be defined as the economic production of products and services in a sustainable way from biological-based resources and has played an important role in the economic development of some countries. “Brazilian agriculture is the shortest and safest way for us to be the great protagonist of the bioeconomy”, say researchers Áurea Fabiana de Albuquerque Gerum and Gilmar Souza Santos in the article “Bioeconomy at Embrapa Cassava and Fruit Culture”.

The circular economy is a model that proposes to use everything that is left over from production processes, whether through reuse, recovery or recycling, with a focus on finding more durable, recyclable and renewable inputs. The bioeconomy and circular economy themes contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations (UN), especially within the scope of Goal 12 (Ensure sustainable production and consumption patterns). Moderated by analyst Marcelo do Amaral Santana, the event will be broadcast simultaneously to the YouTube of Embrapa and for the facebook from Embrapa Cassava and Fruit Culture.
