Biodefensives protect crops and help with regenerative management

A survey carried out last year by the company Agroconsult, in partnership with the Brazilian Society of Nematology and an input manufacturing company, brought alarming numbers about the damage caused by nematodes in agriculture in Brazil. According to the survey, R$65 billion in losses were estimated due to problems caused by phytonematodes in various crops. In soybeans alone, the loss is R$27,7 billion. This means that for every 10 oilseed harvests, an entire harvest is lost to phytonematodes.

The Study also points out that, if the scenario continues as it is, the expectation is that Brazilian producers will have a potential loss of more than R$870 billion in 10 years. According to Thales Facanali Martins, agronomist and portfolio manager at Biotrop, a national company that manufactures biological inputs and natural extracts, among the most prominent phytonematodes in Brazil are Pratylenchus brachyurus and Meloidogyne incognita.

According to the expert, each genus of these nematodes has different growth habits and parasitizing plants. To combat them, a solution is needed that is effective and actionable for both. “For these plant parasites, our recommendation is Biomagno, a biodefensive that has potent biofungicide and bionematicidal action in a single product, the most complete on the market. The double solution is composed of a triple mixture of Bacillus: velezensis, thuringiensis and amyloliquefaciens. It is important to remember that nematodes are an old problem, they have increased in recent years due to an imbalance in the microbiological system, where beneficial microorganisms have decreased in relation to harmful ones due to a lack of attention to soil health. In other words, due to the most planted production system, soybeans and then corn in the off-season, the producer who treats soybeans against this problem, but does not do the same with corn, may continue with the problem, as corn cultivation is also a great multiplier of certain phytonematodes. “It is important to remember that nematicide is to be used from January to January”, reinforces the specialist.

It is also essential to reinforce that using biological products, the producer will be able, in addition to reducing the damage caused by pests and diseases, to obtain greater gains in productivity due to the multifunctionality of these microorganisms for the plant, which is characteristic of bio-inputs, helping to improve soil conditions. in regenerative management. “Biomagno is an innovation in the concept of biological diversity for controlling nematodes and soil pathogens and also enhancing profitability for producers.
