Rizobacter, a multinational agricultural microbiology company belonging to the Bioceres Group, has just received another boost with the acquisition of the North American company, Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI). Although it was not officially disclosed, the operation was carried out based on a valuation by Marrone Bio Innovations of US$240 million. Upon completion, the California-based company will become one of Bioceres' subsidiaries.
After the operation is completed, the group in which Rizobacter is part will have revenues of US$ 300 million, making Bioceres the largest company in the world in agricultural biologicals and the only one that has products in all categories, from biofungicides, bioinsecticides and potential bioherbicides, bienematicides, biostimulants and biological nutrition.
These biological products could replace insecticides and herbicides of chemical origin that are used in extensive agriculture. “This is a very important objective and one that somehow allows us to integrate Marrone into the history of biologicals that we already have after the acquisition of Rizobacter, which comes from the world of nutrition, with inoculants and biostimulation products in its portfolio”, reinforced CEO de Bioceres, Federico Trucco (photo).
