Banco do Brasil advances in the carbon credits market by introducing a combination of technology and analysis. The bank's own platform provides customers with the necessary guidance to identify the potential of their properties for producing carbon credits.
This way, customers can be connected to specialized climatetechs. For this guidance, the customer does not need to make a monetary payment, as the service is compensated in carbon credits.
Gustavo Lellis, director of supplies, infrastructure and assets at Banco do Brasil, emphasizes: “we aim to help our clients explore the green market and recognize the opportunities available. Our objective is to stimulate the entire carbon chain, integrating technology and our renowned experience in ESG, which has led us to be considered the bank with the greatest global sustainability in recent years.”
Since May, the Bank has been accepting carbon credit certificates as a means of payment. This option is valid for the bank's rural properties sold at auction or directly on the website seuimovelbb.com.br.
The credits obtained, both in the payment of rural properties and in the consultancy provided, will be used to offset greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the bank's activities. These actions are part of Banco do Brasil's strategy to encourage the transition to a zero-carbon economy and combat climate change, as each carbon credit produced represents one less ton of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
The solutions are displayed at Febraban Tech, which takes place in São Paulo, from June 27th to 29th. A totem will be available for participants to navigate, providing an interactive journey on the topic, with the assistance of bank employees.
The journey is organized into sections that clarify how Banco do Brasil transforms data into sustainable businesses. Furthermore, anyone interested can learn about this topic step by step and even express interest in the operation by filling out a form for the bank's future contact.
