Bayer promoted this week, in Bela Vista do Paraíso (PR), the I2X Meetings -- which consist of visits by Brazilian producers to the test fields of the new soybean technology, Intacta 2 Xtend. The test areas are being cultivated on 254 properties of soybean farmers selected for the Eleitos I2X program, in the main producing regions of the country. The objective of the meetings is to show the performance of the technology on site and present intelligent management as a way of enhancing its main benefit: increased productivity. The I2X Elect operations are being carried out with equipment from Case IH, a CNH Industrial brand, which, last August, entered into a partnership with Bayer to supply machines for planting, cultural treatments and harvesting the test areas .

Third generation of soybean biotechnology developed by Bayer, Intacta 2 Xtend provides greater protection against the main soybean caterpillars, expanding its scope of defense against two more relevant species (Helicoverpa armigera and Spodoptera cosmioides), added to the four that were already targeted by the Intacta RR2 PRO technology. According to the agronomist and seed manager at Cooperativa Integrada, Romildo Birelo, one of the experts who has been following the I2X stages in the Paraná region, the producer in the north of the state has greater difficulty in controlling soybean caterpillars, especially the False -measurement and armpit drill. “The expansion of operations to two more species is an important change, which came at an opportune time, as the cosmioides spodoptera has increasingly migrated from corn crops to soybeans”, he adds.

Tolerance to dicamba, a post-emergent herbicide with decades of proven performance around the world, is another major benefit of the new Intacta 2 Xtend biotechnology. Can be applied pre-planting and post-emergence of the crop, dicamba is efficient in controlling broad-leaved weeds, such as horseweed, caruru, viola string and black pickerel, which cause a relevant impact on the productivity of soybean crops in the country and are difficult to control with other herbicides currently available on the market. “Flower horseweed is now one of the biggest problems facing soybean farmers in Paraná. Producers have encountered many challenges in controlling this weed and Intacta 2 comments the expert.

For Birelo, Bayer's first biotechnology launch for the soybean market, RR, achieved great support from producers in the west of Paraná, but not with people from the north of the state, due to its characteristics - a situation that was reversed in second technology launched by the company, Intacta. “Based on this entire scenario and Bayer's history of launches for the evolution of soybeans in Brazil, our expectations are very high regarding the new Intacta 2 Xtend technology and the countless benefits it will bring to the producer and the entire chain. agricultural”, he concludes.

During field days on the properties of I2X Elects, during the harvest planting period, the company has demonstrated good practices for intelligent management. “Bayer is concerned with offering a complete and integrated solution for the farmer. It is not only the quality of the product, but also the support of a highly qualified field team, a broad training and qualification program for the entire production chain, in addition to the support of various works with academics, foundations and partners in the agrochemical industry and application technology to obtain the best recommendations for the technology”, explains Fábio Passos, launch manager for the new platform at Bayer.

The idea of the project is to provide a complete experience - from planting to harvesting - recorded and monitored through Climate FieldView, Bayer's digital agriculture tool. With the tool, it will be possible to establish operating protocols to obtain the best performance of the Intacta 2 Xtend platform in the fields. This monitoring is possible because all machines being used in test area operations are part of Case's portfolio and are compatible with Bayer's digital system, providing a large volume of data. “We constantly invest in technology, whether in our products or services, so that rural producers can break productivity records in soybeans and other crops, year after year. This is how Brazil will assume an important role in global food production”, he concludes.

After passing through Paraná, with the training of more than 800 people in the first moment alone, the field days continue, later this year, to other major producing centers in the country, such as Rio Grande do Sul, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo and Bahia, bringing together an audience of approximately 10 thousand rural producers to see in practice which good practices will allow them to make the most of this new development.

“By combining high-tech seeds, efficient chemicals and the use of appropriate equipment and accessories to support the application, the producer will be able to reach a new level of soybean productivity, with rates above the average already recorded by the market”, he states. Fábio Passos. There are several fronts to maximize the producer's experience with the new platform. “We are working once again in partnership with the chain and the farmer, and taking information transparently to the field, as we have always done, so that the customer can count on this set of integrated solutions from Bayer, which will provide more quality, profitability and sustainability for your crop and will take you to what we have called 'the new era of soy'”, he concludes.

The commercial launch is scheduled for the 2021/22 harvest and depends on the approval of the countries that are the main importers of Brazilian grain.
