Multiplier Forum 2022 brings together Corteva partners and professionals
Event brought together 90 seed multipliers from the main producing regions in Brazil to discuss challenges and perspectives of the seed market
Specialized in solutions that offer high productivity to farmers, as well as safe, nutritious and tasty food for the end consumer, Bayer will bring its portfolio of integrated solutions focused on the areas of crop protection and fruit and vegetable seeds to the 27th edition of Hortitec. The fair will take place again in Holambra (SP), between the 22nd and 24th of June, after being suspended for two years due to the pandemic.
According to Daniela Augustinho, Communications Manager for South America at Seminis, Bayer's produce brand, the fair will be a great opportunity to demonstrate up close how the company has worked to help producers' journey from planting to harvesting. “One of the examples was the launch, in 2021, of the "Vegetables By Bayer" platform, a new concept that brings together the company's entire family of vegetable brands, from the logo, visual identity, to the way we communicate with the market. to meet the growing needs of our partners and farmers", he comments. "With this platform, we want to transform people's daily lives, moving further and further towards our purpose, as an organization, of 'Health for all, Hunger for none' , highlights Daniela.
With the aim of helping producers combat soil diseases and seek to increase productivity, one of the new features for Hortitec visitors will be solutions for the tomato rootstock segment: Gumgang in the vegetative segment and SVTX6258 in the generative segment, which together with Shincheonggang, Maxifort and Multifort, complete Seminis' portfolio with this technology.
“The use of commercial rootstocks in tomato cultivation has become popular as it increases the vigor and productivity of the crop. Grafting -- as the technique is known -- is a propagation method that consists of fusing the tissues of two different plants, the purpose of which is to explore the desirable characteristics of each one”, explains Daniela. “In general, the lower part (rootstock) contributes to the roots and is responsible for supporting the plant, absorbing water and nutrients and adapting to soil and substrate conditions,” she says.
In addition to solutions for tomatoes, another novelty in seeds is AG1051 corn, leader in the green corn market and traditional in tamale production, which with the same quality as always, is now sold by Bayer only through the Seminis brand. Products produced with AG1051 can be tasted at the Bayer stand during the fair. The hybrid has an excellent root system, which allows for a wide range of planting times, as well as high performance and productivity in the field. "Bayer is attentive to the needs of the market and, therefore, always seeks to meet the expectations of both producers, traders and consumers. Our intention is to offer products with higher quality, more nutrients and longer shelf life, thus avoiding waste at the end of the chain", says Augustinho.
After years of investment in research and dozens of experimental trials in the Center-South region of Brazil, Bayer will also present Verango® Prime during the event for the effective and long-lasting control of nematodes and early blight (alternaria grandis) in potato. The product showed significant results in commercial crops with assisted sales, representing an increase of 7,3% in the average crop productivity, compared to the producer's standard treatment.
The solution has revolutionary technology, as it links productivity with sustainability. “Due to its mode of action, it protects plants from nematodes, in addition to being compatible with biological products and presenting less risk to the environment and operators. In other words, it helps the producer to carry out effective management in a more sustainable way”, reinforces Fábio Maia, Bayer Marketing Manager for Fruits and Vegetables.
Fruit and vegetable producers will also be able to learn about the Sivanto Prime® technology, which since 2021 has been available for a further 42 crops, totaling 50 crops with insecticide registration in Brazil. The innovation is a systemic solution that has the active ingredient flupyradifurone and is part of the butenolide chemical group, which acts within the insect's nervous system.
“Specifically for the Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) and the Aphid (Rhopalosiphum maidis), there is no product on the market with this technology. It is a molecule that is the result of almost 15 years of research. The solution helps the producer with application flexibility in controlling the main fruit and vegetable pests, as it can be used both on the leaves and on the soil in registered crops”, concludes Fábio.
All the news and products can be seen at the company's stand, prepared especially for the event, which will provide fair visitors with a full customer service with the presence of technicians and specialists to answer questions about the best solutions for each producer.
