This year, Brazil registered record growth in grain production, reaching the mark of 250,5 million tons, which according to the National Supply Company (Conab), represents 8,5 million tons more than the harvest of 2018/2019. Speaking specifically about corn cultivation, (all crops added together), the country reached over 100 million tons with an area of 18,5 million hectares.

"The significant growth in grain production and its consecutive records are the result of constant investments by Brazilian producers in new technologies. This is one of the reasons why Bayer is presenting to the market the pre-launch of two hybrids of the seed brands Agroceres and Dekalb. The new products, which were developed especially for the southern region of Brazil, will be available on the market for the summer 2020/2021 harvest", explains Bayer's product manager for corn, Danilo Pereira.

Sementes Agroceres highlights the AG9021PRO3, a hybrid with a hyper-early cycle, which complements the brand's solutions for the States of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. The novelty draws attention for its ability to increase the farmer's profitability, due to to its extremely high production potential, combined with the hyperpredictiveness of the cycle.

The Dekalb brand is pre-launching the DKB235PRO3 hybrid, which combines a fast cycle and productivity. Its high productive potential combined with leaf health elevates the hybrid to a higher level in terms of productivity, thus strengthening Dekalb's portfolio in the southern region of Brazil.

Around 400 growers will have the privilege of testing the DKB235PRO3. The AG9021PRO3 will be tested by around 200 farmers.

In addition to these two products, which have not yet had a commercial launch, Agroeste is betting on the new hybrid AS1868PRO3 for the southern region of Brazil, which has already been tested in the last harvest and which demonstrated productive potential, a defensive profile for the main foliar diseases and tolerance to the complex of stunting.

The products reach the market with VT PRO3 technology, the first to help protect the corn root against attacks by Diabrotica speciosa (pinworm larvae) and protect the corn up to the cob against attacks by aerial part caterpillars, in addition to being tolerant to glyphosate and provide greater flexibility in weed management. "The Brazilian producer is our great partner and knows that Bayer's hybrids deliver several benefits to him, especially the potential increase in productivity", explains Pereira. "We invested in research and development to deliver a portfolio of corn hybrids with excellent results", highlights the specialist.

In addition to the hybrids mentioned, both the Dekalb brand and Sementes Agroceres e Agroeste make RefúgioMax hybrids available to producers, an ideal seed brand for planting corn refuge. "We always reinforce with farmers the importance of practicing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to preserve the benefits of biotechnology. And one of the main pillars for this preservation is the implementation of structured refuge, which helps to reduce the population of resistant insects and , thus, aims to protect the crop's productivity potential", adds Pereira.
