Monsoy launches in Brazil the first varieties with Intacta 2 Xtend (i2x) technology, third generation of biotechnology. "These new transgenic seeds have high efficiency against caterpillars and allow soybean farmers to carry out extensive control of weeds. All of this, of course, combined with good agricultural practices, which are fundamental for intelligent management", explains Antonio Everaldo, commercial leader at Monsoy.

For the next harvest*, Bayer will make available three varieties with Intacta 2 Xtend biotechnology and two others specific to Refúgio Xtend, which are also tolerant to the herbicide dicamba, for weed management. "The new varieties for refuge also offer high productivity and help maintain Bt technology. In addition to dicamba, this technology continues to maintain tolerance to glyphosate", explains the expert.

The novelty for the largest state producing the commodity in Brazil, Mato Grosso, is called M 8220 i2x, whose strengths are: excellent production potential; erect plant architecture and good leaf health. "In addition to target spot, this variety also shows good behavior in the field in relation to the main diseases that affect soybean crops, such as anthracnose, frog's eye spot and macrophomina. The varieties with Intacta 2 Xtend technology have a greater spectrum of pests, protecting the seed against insect damage and allowing the use of the herbicide dicamba, which is a great ally for the farmer when it comes to avoiding weed competition", highlights Everaldo.

Complementing the portfolio for the Mato Grosso territory, another highlight is the refuge variety M 8323 XTD, which has wide adaptation and high performance throughout the State.

"It is important to emphasize that the adoption of refuge is the most important practice of the strategy whose main objective is to delay the development of pest resistance to Bt technology (Bacillus thuringiensis). This means that planting seeds without Bt technology in at least 20% of the total area of the plot is essential for soybean farmers to continue to have high productivity in the next harvests", emphasizes the expert.

For the northern and western regions of Paraná, Monsoy presents the M 6110 i2x variety, which has a robust sanitary package; leaf health; in addition to an early cycle adjusted for these areas. "The M 6110 i2x draws attention for its productivity, but also for its excellent performance against target spot, which is a disease that is of great concern to soybean farmers in this State. Furthermore, in high altitude areas, the productive potential is increased", points out Everaldo.

Still focusing on these locations, Monsoy recommends the M 6100 XTD variety for refuge planting. For Brazil's new agricultural frontier, popularly called Matopiba (Maranhão, Piauí, Tocantins and Bahia), the highlights are: the M 8606 i2x variety, which has high productive potential and a degree of maturation adjusted to the planting conditions in the north of the country (mainly Maranhão, Piauí and Tocantins); and the M 8220 i2x variety, which is recommended for western Bahia, Piauí and Maranhão.
