Bayer emphasizes offering cotton of the DP 1949 B3RF variety to the market. Announced during the last Brazilian Cotton Congress, although registered since 2020, it promises productivity and stability. It is resistant to ramularia I, blue disease and bacteriosis, according to company information.

"The adoption of biotechnology is an important practice for greater effectiveness in controlling diseases and pests, bringing more security and savings to the farmer", explains Eduardo Correa, Marketing Leader for Bayer's Cotton Business for Latin America.

According to a statement from Bayer, the material contains Bollgard 3 RRFlex technology (existing in Brazil since 2020). Therefore, it offers advantages in the management of the false caterpillar, leafworm, pink caterpillar and apple caterpillar. Also in relation to species of caterpillars from the complex Spodoptera spp. e Helicoverpa armigera.

“We expect, based on the results of field trials, that this new germplasm will present productivity gains compared to the main market checks”, highlights João Tovajar, Commercial leader of Bayer’s Cotton Business.

The cultivar registration was approved on 17/11/2020. As of 2021, it is regularly included in the Ministry of Agriculture's agricultural climate risk zones.
