To have a productive and profitable soybean crop, several factors must be taken into account, from the choice of inputs to correct management in the field. In this sense, the farmer must be careful when choosing certified and quality seeds, as they are essential to achieve good results.
In addition to seeds with good germination and high vigor, Basf recommends protecting the genetic potential of the seeds, shielding them with efficient and complete treatment to avoid damage caused by pests and diseases. The potential for productivity loss of an unprotected seed can vary between 10% and 40% and is directly related to the intensity of the incidence of pests and diseases, in addition to the time and conditions in which planting is carried out.
To ensure well-established and productive crops, Basf offers rural producers Standak Top, for treating seeds in soybean crops. The product has multiple and complementary functions in its insecticidal and fungicidal effect, shielding the seeds against attack by pests and soil diseases that interfere with the germination process and developing seedlings. The solution has three distinct active ingredients and is efficient in managing pests such as elasmo caterpillar, coró and soybean anteater, as well as important diseases that attack seeds and seedlings.
“Standak Top allows maximum expression of the genetic potential of the seeds, in addition to offering greater tolerance to water stress and nematodes. It provides better germination, seed vigor and seedling development in addition to stimulating their natural defenses”, highlights Fernando Arantes, senior manager of Biotechnology and Seed Treatment at Basf.
The title of highest soybean productivity in Brazil won by rural producer João Carlos da Cruz, in the award promoted by CESB, is also due to the treatment of seeds with Standak Top, which allowed the control of soil diseases and pests and avoided losses during the implementation and establishment of culture.
“To achieve a yield of 120 bags of soybeans per hectare in the 2015/16 harvest, we counted on the support and guidance of the Basf team before, during and after, we used extremely efficient Basf products, contributing to achieving the sustainability of soybean production”, he celebrates. rural producer João Carlos da Cruz.
