Basf takes cotton variety to Bahia Farm Show 2019

The FM 985 GLTP cotton variety is the newest option that can increase crop productivity and profitability. FiberMax brand technology is on the Brazilian market. Basf presents the variety to Bahian cotton farmers for the first time during the Bahia Farm Show, in Luís Eduardo Magalhães.

GLTP technology (GlyTol LibertyLink and TwinLink Plus) contributes to efficient plantation management. The variety has three Bt proteins in its composition to control the main cotton bollworms. Tolerance to Liberty herbicides and glyphosate helps in efficient weed control.
 “In addition to providing efficient management of pests and weeds, the FiberMax FM 985 GLTP variety offers high productivity and fiber quality, an essential combination for those looking for better results with sustainability”, says the senior manager of Cotton Seeds at Basf, Warley Palota.

Basf Soybean Cultivar Launches

Basf also launches soybean seeds under the Credenz brand. The CZ 58B28 IPRO variety is the brand's highlight for enabling high productivity in western Bahia. And the CZ 58B61 IPRO variety is adapted and recommended for cultivation in Piauí with a long cycle, around 130 days.

Desiccation management for the production system 

Pre-harvest management requires care to maintain the quality of the grains and maintain the productive potential of the crop. In cotton crops, desiccation promotes the uniform defoliation and opening of cotton apples, contributes to improving fiber quality and facilitates harvesting. Basf recommends the use of the Heat product for managing the final phase of cotton crops.

“The farmer invested in increasing the area under cotton cultivation. Desiccation is an ally of the cotton farmer in the search for more profitability because it contributes to maintaining the quality of the fiber", explains Basf's Territory Marketing Manager, Marcos Antonio Campos.

During the event, Basf will present its portfolio of solutions focused on crop longevity. At the Bahia Farm Show, the company will also offer farmers special conditions for purchasing inputs through a barter.
