BASF announced the launch of Sistiva, a fungicide for treating wheat seeds, marking a new chapter in the management of powdery mildew and rust in wheat. The product is available for use in this 2024 harvest.
Thiago Antônio Manchini, agronomist and consultant in Cruz Alta, highlights that recent weather conditions have intensified the occurrence of diseases in wheat, compromising productivity. Manchini notes that in test fields treatment with the fungicide resulted in superior plant establishment, an advantage attributed to carboxamide (its active ingredient).
Juliano Berguetti, an agronomist specializing in plant production, also testified to the effectiveness of the product, noting a significant reduction in powdery mildew and greater flexibility in application management, thanks to its residuality.
Nilson Caldas, senior seed treatment manager for agricultural solutions at BASF, highlights that Sistiva is an important milestone for the control and management of diseases in wheat crops. "The product not only stands out for its selectivity and beneficial physiological effect on plants, but also contributes to more sustainable and productive agriculture, offering essential protection against powdery mildew and rust," he explains.
Sistiva's active ingredient is fluxapyroxad (fluxapyroxad, C18H12F5N3O, CAS 907204-31-3, Frac 7).
