BASF launches fungicide and presents seed innovations at Hortitec 2022

Zampro is indicated for use in tomato, grape and potato crops

For reinforce its commitment to efficient management, BASF launches as an innovation the Zampro fungicide. O product is officially launched on the market during the 27th edition of Hortitec (Exhibition Horticultural Technique, Protected Cultivation and Intensive Crops). The fair is largest and most important in the sector in Latin America. The event takes place in Holambra, interior of the State of São Paulo, on the 22nd to 24th of June.

Zampro is the new fungicide indicated for the control and management of diseases such as late blight and downy mildew. O product can be used in different cultures, with emphasis on application in tomato, grape and potato crops. The fungicide provides powerful action preventative in all stages of the fungus, greater practicality and flexibility of use throughout the crop cycle to keep crops healthy and achieving greater productive potential.

"A BASF has been offering innovations for phytosanitary control in fruits and vegetables to contribute to the farmers’ legacy. Globally, We invest approximately 900 million euros per year in research and development of new technologies aimed at agriculture. The result can be seen by offering a portfolio of complete solutions for our customer", comments Rodrigo Pifano, Hortifruti Marketing Manager at BASF in Brazil.

Innovations in seed hortifruti

A Nunhems, brand of fruit and vegetable seeds from BASF, will also bring news to the Hortitec, in addition to products that have already become popular with consumers. This is the case of Pingo Doce watermelon, which has differences that will bring more practicality, sweetness, flavor and health for consumers' tables.

"Innovation, modernity, sustainability and healthiness can go together in agriculture. Proof of this is Pingo Doce, with its sustainable management. Pingo Doce Original has edible seeds and in smaller quantities, has a dark green skin, reduced size, redder pulp and a higher sweetness index than the of conventional watermelons. The fruit is attractive to the eyes and the taste, being a great success in retail”, comments Golmar Beppler Neto, Nunhems national sales manager.

A The fair also features the presentation of Enpower, a rootstock for the tomato production chain, focused on the open field and which can provide up to 30% increase in productivity in the exclusive cultivation of tomatoes. Technology makes it possible to increasing the quality of plants and fruits and contributing to better use of the planting area combined with effective control of soil diseases such as, Fusarium 3, Verticillium and nematodes. More security for the farmer, with plants with greater resistance to diseases and climate are results obtained by joining the tissue of two distinct plants by the stem and exploring the traits favorability of each tomato. 

 “Nunhems, understanding the needs of the Brazilian farmer, began a long work of research to bring rootstock technology, which was traditionally used in the greenhouse, for the open field, being a new concept in Brazil.
