On the afternoon of this Wednesday (8/6), the Bahia Farm Show hosted a panel focused on issues of legal security in the countryside, addressing fundamental topics such as security in rural areas and the right to property. The discussion took place in the auditorium of the Association of Farmers and Irrigators of Bahia (Aiba), highlighting the urgent need to improve legislation and its execution to ensure that farmers can continue their productive activities smoothly on their properties.

The guests to address the constitutional guarantees of the right to land were the tax lawyer and agribusiness specialist, Wagner Pamplona, president of the Association of Cattle Breeders of Western Bahia (Acrioste), and Leandro Henrique Mosello, president of the Agribusiness Commission of the Order of Bahia Lawyers (OAB-BA). Both highlighted that there are still legal gaps that harm rural producers and encourage acts of invasion, leading owners to seek protection in the Constitution and Brazilian legislation on the security of private property.

Mosello, when asked, highlighted several state failures, remembering that only last year, during the Bahia Farm Show, the governors of Bahia and Tocantins signed a declaratory agreement on the borders of the territories between the states.

Ivan Calvo, a specialist in land law, and Pedro Lupion (PP-PR), federal deputy and current president of the Agricultural Parliamentary Front (FPA), participated remotely in the event. The parliamentarian explained the main legal and legislative actions being discussed in the Brazilian legislature to combat land invasions in the country. Lupion stated that he is demanding effective actions from the federal government to contain any threats to rural producers in this regard.

The Forum began with the presence of Odacil Ranzi, president of the Bahia Farm Show and Aiba, Humberto Miranda, president of the Bahia Farmers Federation (FAEB), and Davi Schmidt, president of the Barreiras Rural Producers Union. Everyone participated in the debate alongside farmers and legal professionals.
