The main national coffee growing event and one of the most important in the world, the International Coffee Week (SIC), which reaches its tenth edition between the 16th and 18th of November, at Expominas, in Belo Horizonte, is a reference for the market to know the news and technologies linked to the product. More than that, it is also the opportunity to discover, first-hand, the coffees best evaluated in terms of quality and the professionals who stand out this year in different categories, from the perspective of specialized judges, buyers and the public.

This year, the Chapada de Minas Quality Award will be one of the highlights of the first day of SIC (16/11) and will take place in the Conference Room. The award recognizes and attests to the quality of coffee produced in the region, valuing the origin of the beans and giving visibility to producers who contribute to the development of coffee farming in the territory.

The award is supported by Sebrae Minas, which has been operating in Chapada de Minas for over 10 years, helping producers with their organization and training. “In 2019, we developed a territorial strategy with the aim of positioning the region as a producer of high-quality coffee with identity and origin”, says Priscilla Lins, manager of the Agribusiness Unit at Sebrae Minas.

The results of this work, according to her, will be presented to the market during SIC 2022. “The competition will give visibility to Chapada de Minas coffees in strategic markets, contributing to the inclusion of the territory on the map of regions producing high quality coffee and origin ”, adds Priscilla Lins.

The Chapada de Minas region is located in the northeast of Minas, in a demarcated area that covers 22 municipalities, and has 5.800 producers in an area of approximately 30 thousand hectares. The region has emerged as an important frontier for coffee production in Brazil.
