Standards for integrated hardwood production come into force in February
The objective is to guarantee the safety and quality of these foods through the application of Good Agricultural Practices
With highlights for the Central-West, Southeast and South regions, 11 women who overlap in the agricultural sector were selected by Bayer and the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (Abag) to become Ambassadors of the 4th edition of the Women of Agriculture Award. "With the legacy of innovative management that these entrepreneurs built in rural areas, we want to encourage and open space for more women to tell how they make a difference in agriculture. In this way, we believe it will be possible to inspire and encourage other women to sign up this year", explains Daniela Barros, director of Corporate Communications for the agricultural area at Bayer Brasil.
Mara Motter, from Três Arroios (RS), who is part of the team, is one of the winners of the Women of Agro Award 2020, in the Small Property category, and, in her new role, aims to boost other women, especially those from her state , to send the projects they developed to be evaluated by the award judging committee. For 12 years, the producer has managed the management of Granja Motter & Cia, founded by her parents, and has not stopped looking for ways to improve efficiency in the crop that produces wheat, soybeans, corn, beef and swine livestock, with a management cycle soil and crop rotation.
For the businesswoman, the award and her mission as ambassador represent the appreciation of work that began a long time ago. "Today, without a doubt, our farm is a reference in my region and due to the merit and effort of my family. I started very young in the area, at 19 years old, and, therefore, I have already overcome some barriers as a young woman leading a property rural. So, being recognized by Bayer and Abag in the latest edition of the award is an experience, which, for me, is priceless. By receiving this trophy I feel that I am following the right path. Furthermore, it is like a reinforcement so that we continue, more and more, producing with quality and sustainability", adds Mara.
Also chosen to be one of the Ambassadors for the Women of Agro Award 2021, Aretuza Negri is one of the first creators of digital content about agriculture on social media, with her profile Ela é do Agro!. The channel aims to discuss topics related to rural work from a female point of view.
"Women have always been present in agriculture, but very little is said about their relevance in the sector. Many participate in all property management processes and carry with them the idea that they are not involved in agriculture, but that they only "help" in any way they can. I am very happy to be an ambassador for this year's Women of Agro Awards. Since initiatives like this give a voice to the feminine side of agribusiness. Being an ambassador is having the honor of talking about women and motivating so many others to tell their stories through social media", reinforces the influencer.
Women of Agriculture Award 2021
The award, created by Abag and Bayer, in 2018, reaches its 4th edition this year. Since its creation, 550 producers have signed up to the initiative, which to date has benefited 27 farmers from various regions of Brazil. The award is aimed at women who stand out in managing agricultural properties, whether small, medium or large farms.
With registrations starting in March this year, the theme of the award is Innovative Management and will recognize initiatives for good agricultural practices and sustainable management with a focus on economic, social and environmental pillars such as: rational use of natural resources, increased production efficiency with innovative management, projects that enable the social development of the community or property employees, animal welfare and the valorization of human capital. The candidates who place in the first three places in each category (small, medium and large property) will be awarded prizes, which means a total of nine finalists.
"Our ambassadors represent exactly what we wanted when creating this project: to value women, managers who set an example of sustainable agriculture on their properties. I have no doubt that, throughout the year, these trajectories will inspire other producers to sign up for the award and tell their stories", concludes Gislaine Balbinot, Communications Manager at Abag.
