Average rice prices fell significantly between May and June. Last month, the ESALQ/SENAR-RS Indicator for rice 58% whole and paid in cash had an average of R$ 73,15/sc of 50 kg, a significant 12,13% lower than in May/21, and the decline more intense, in nominal terms, since March 2017, when it was 13,8%.

According to Cepea researchers, the drop is a reflection of pressure from wholesalers and retailers in relation to the beneficiary's values. Industries, in turn, had to lower the sales prices of this product, consequently offering lower prices for the purchase of raw materials.

At the beginning of July, however, prices are firmer, as demand is heating up again.
