How to minimize damage from delayed cotton planting
Rains in recent weeks make sowing difficult in Mato Grosso; there are alternatives to deal with the problems
According to the latest analysis of the Edenred Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL), a survey that consolidates the price behavior of transactions at gas stations, regular diesel in the country had an average price of R$6,23 in January, registering an increase of 0,48% compared to the average of the immediately previous month. Type S-10 registered an average price of R$6,31 in the first month of 2025, after an increase of 0,64% in the same comparison.
“Just as IPTL has recorded in the cases of gasoline and ethanol, the average prices of regular diesel and S-10 have also been following an upward trend since the end of 2024. Regionally, both types of diesel also saw increases in all regions of Brazil in January compared to December”, analyzes Douglas Pina, General Director of Mobility at Edenred Brasil.
The largest regional increases recorded for the average prices of both types of diesel in January compared to December were in the Northeast, 1,58% for regular diesel and 1,10% for S-10. Although the Northeast recorded the largest increases, the region with the highest prices for regular diesel and S-10 was the North, where they cost, on average, R$6,82, after an increase of 0.89%, and R$6,66, after an increase of 0,15%, respectively.
The South region had the lowest fuel prices in the country, traded at R$6,05 (regular diesel) and R$6,12 (S-10 diesel), even after increases of 0,67% and 0,33%, respectively.
In the survey by states, IPTL found that the highest average for regular diesel in January was recorded in Acre, at R$7,64, after an increase of 0,13% compared to December. Rio Grande do Sul appears as the state where drivers found the cheapest diesel in January: at R$6,04, after an increase of 0,33% compared to December.
The state that recorded the largest increase in the average price of regular diesel was Alagoas, where it was traded at R$6,61, after a 4,75% increase compared to December. Rondônia showed the largest drop, of 3,16%, with the average price there reaching R$6,74.
Regarding S-10 diesel, the highest average price recorded in January was also in Acre: R$7,58, even after a 0,13% drop compared to December. The lowest average price in January was identified in the state of Paraná: R$6,11, although the value represents a 0,49% increase compared to December.
The biggest increase in S-10 diesel in January, of 2,37%, was observed in Bahia, where the fuel was traded for R$6,48. The biggest drop in the average price of the fuel in January was recorded in Amazonas, where S-10 diesel was sold for an average of R$6,60, after a 0,45% drop compared to December.
