LS Tractor has just launched its MT7.115 autonomous tractor during the International Agriculture Exhibition 2023, in early October, in Suncheon, South Korea. This model, now available to work on commercial crops in that country, promises to revolutionize the agricultural sector, with cutting-edge technology for rural producers.

With the complete development of the main components, such as engine, transmission and hydraulic system, the MT7.115, with 115 hp of power, is capable of carrying out electronically controlled agricultural operations. The combination of the electronic control system with high-precision GPS allows precision in agricultural operations. This innovation is essential at a time when there is a decreasing population in rural areas and an aging population, as is the case in South Korea, making self-employed agricultural work an imminent necessity.

Benjamin Cates, senior researcher responsible for the LS autonomous tractor project, highlights that "autonomous driving systems present a significant improvement in productivity." And the statistics don't lie: in data obtained during the testing phase, in straight-line autonomous driving for soybean cultivation, there was a 16,7% reduction in cultivation time and an 8% increase in the number of lanes, when compared to working with an operator. In terms of yield, the gain is also significant, reaching an increase of 8% in soybean production.

Cutting edge technology

MT7 doesn't skimp on innovations. The hydraulic steering and brake system has a reaction speed of less than 150ms. Furthermore, the technological package includes GPS position correction on slopes, using a specific tractor posture algorithm, guaranteeing an accuracy margin of less than 3 cm. In terms of speed, the tractor operates at 5 km/h, adapting to the Korean reality, where most agricultural work is carried out at maximum speeds below 8 km/h.

An object recognition system based on Artificial Intelligence guarantees that unmanned agricultural work can be carried out in complete safety.

The autonomous tractor is still exclusive to Korean producers and, according to LS Tractor, there is no plan for the model to be sold in other markets, such as Brazil, the United States and China.

Exclusive Demo

The MT7 autonomous tractor was presented in an exclusive demonstration for the Brazilian delegation of 36 people, including dealers, customers, employees and business partners who are visiting the LS Tractor facilities, in South Korea, from October 13th to 21st.

A Cultivar Máquinas Magazine November will bring a special report on the autonomous MT7, presenting all the details of this new feature.

The autonomous tractor is still exclusive to Korean producers and, according to LS Tractor, there is no forecast for commercializing the model in other markets, such as Brazil, the United States and China.
