New auctions to support orange production from farmers in Rio Grande do Sul are scheduled to be held later this month by the National Supply Company (Conab). Next Tuesday (26), support will be offered for the flow of 5 thousand tons of fresh product from the 2019/20 harvest, 2,5 thousand tons through the Equalizer Award Paid to Rural Producers (Pepro) and 2,5 thousand t for the Product Flow Award (PEP).

The price of oranges from Rio Grande do Sul, as set out in the notice, will be R$0,39/kilo or the equivalent of R$15,95 per 40,8 kg box. To participate in the auction, cooperatives will have until January 9th to register in the National Rural Producers Registry System (Sican).

The limit offered by a rural producer remains a maximum of 200 tons, whether or not a member of a cooperative. The product can be shipped to any region of the country. In the last operation, carried out on 19/11, there was negotiation for 17,6% of the 5 thousand tons of orange made available via Pepro.

With this new offer, a series of five marketing rounds carried out by the federal government have already been completed with a view to helping farmers sell the product and thereby balancing fruit market prices in the state, which are below the official minimum.
