The area planted with second harvest 2021/2022 corn in Rondônia is estimated at 239,8 thousand hectares. “Second harvest corn production in Rondônia benefited from the favorable climate and planting carried out within the ideal climate window. This enabled productivity gains of around 2,6% in addition to the increase in planted area”, comments Calixto.
Soybean
The area cultivated with soybeans in Rondônia, in the 2021/2022 harvest, was estimated at 491,7 thousand hectares, 24% higher than in the 2020/2021 harvest. Production, which reached almost 1,7 million tons, increased by 21,4%, lower than the planted area, due to the drop in productivity, by 2,1%. Coffee
In Rondônia, coffee production this harvest also broke a record: it was 2,8 million 60 kg bags, with an average productivity of 43,1 bags per hectare, according to data from the third survey carried out by Conab. The good performance of local coffee farming is due to favorable weather conditions in most producing regions, positively impacting the harvest's production, which was 21,1% higher than the previous harvest.
The estimate for the Brazilian coffee harvest, including Arabica and camphor species, is that 50,4 million 60 kg bags will be produced this harvest, 5,6% higher than the 2021 harvest.
Cotton
Although the area planted with cotton in the state in the 2021/2022 harvest was the same as in the 2020/2021 harvest, it achieved productivity gains of 5,4% that caused total production to fluctuate positively from 30 thousand tons to 31,6 thousand tons. Cotton lint production is estimated at 12 thousand tons, while cottonseed production is expected to reach 19,6 thousand tons, with average productivity of 1.482 kg/ha and 2.418 kg/ha, respectively.

The agricultural products considered for the analysis of average prices paid to producers were: rice, beans, corn, soybeans, coffee, table cassava and cassava flour. Coffee was the product that showed the biggest price variation in the period analyzed, 81,9%, followed by beans (30,2%) and cassava flour (28,1%). In the case of coffee, the lower production outlook for the Brazilian Arabica coffee harvest in 2022, due to climate problems, contributed to the increase in prices, given that the product is a commodity, with prices negotiated on stock exchanges.
Prices of livestock products
To analyze the prices of livestock products, a basket of six products was used (fat cattle, pigs, milk, tambaqui, pirarucu and chicken eggs) and, in the case of the price of the fat cattle arroba, the prices paid were considered in cash and with a term of 30 days.
