The Mato Grosso Soybean and Corn Producers Association (Aprosoja-MT) today formalized the delivery of contributions to the Government of the State of Mato Grosso for the regulation of Law No. 12.709/2024, in compliance with the agreement recently signed with Governor Mauro Mendes. The law, which aims to eliminate trade barriers imposed by companies that adopt anti-economic practices, represents a milestone in the defense of free enterprise and the balanced socioeconomic development of Mato Grosso municipalities, with a focus on reducing social inequalities.
The suggestions presented reinforce the scope provided for in Article 2, Section I, of the law, highlighting the need to prevent any attempt to sustain the Soy Moratorium through Article 4. The governor had already expressed concern about this possibility and committed to ensuring that the regulatory decree is clear and comprehensive enough to prevent subterfuges, such as the transformation of the Moratorium into institutional policies or the modulation of restrictions by delimited areas, such as polygons or plots. Maintaining such practices would violate constitutional principles and the norms of the Brazilian economic order.
For Aprosoja-MT, these guidelines are essential to protect the sovereignty of national laws and ensure that rural producers in Mato Grosso are not harmed by discriminatory or arbitrary practices.
“The governor’s commitment to ensuring a clear and effective decree renews producers’ confidence in ending this commercial collusion that has long harmed the sector. Aprosoja’s contributions provide for due process, broad defense and adversarial proceedings for companies, allowing us to serve markets with specific demands without penalizing Brazilian producers who strictly follow national laws. Our goal is to build a fair and sustainable economic environment for all,” said Aprosoja-MT president Lucas Costa Beber.
Aprosoja-MT reaffirms its commitment to restoring legal security for thousands of farming families who, after almost two decades of economic abuse by large corporations, now have hope for better and fairer days. The organization believes that the end of this agreement will bring benefits to the entire society of Mato Grosso, promoting sustainable development and reducing social inequalities.
The entity thanks and congratulates Governor Mauro Mendes for his commitment and firm leadership in combating the Soy Moratorium, in addition to the equitable treatment of all citizens of Mato Grosso, strengthening justice and the competitiveness of the state's productive sector.
