Brand presented solutions for harvesting, planting and soil management
The president of the Association of Soy and Corn Producers of Mato Grosso (Aprosoja-MT), Fernando Cadore, highlighted the relevance of the National Fertilizer Plan (PNF), launched today (11.03), by the Federal Government, which aims to readjust the balance between national production and imports while meeting its growing demand for fertilizer products and technologies.
“Rural producers welcome this measure with great expectations and we hope that the long-term average will produce results for Brazilian agriculture. It is time for the country to be self-sufficient and reduce total dependence on other countries”, highlighted the representative of Aprosoja-MT.
According to the PNF, the aim is to reduce dependence on imports, in 2050, from 85% to 45%, even if the demand for fertilizers doubles. The external dependence on these nutrients, which arrive in the country mainly from Russia, China, Canada, Morocco and Belarus.
More than 85% of fertilizers used in the country are imported, demonstrating a high level of dependence on imports in a market dominated by few suppliers. This growing dependence leaves the Brazilian economy, heavily supported by agribusiness, vulnerable to fluctuations in the international fertilizer market.
Regarding the optimized consumption of fertilizers, Aprosoja-MT maintains its position and continues research into the reduction or zero use of fertilizers, using soil reserves. “The entity has already been doing this with the Technological Centers (CTECNOs), and has proven over the years that it is possible to optimize without harm to the producer”, concludes Cadore.
