The Association of Soy and Corn Producers of Mato Grosso (Aprosoja) launched this July the first notice of the “Research Program”, which aims to promote and encourage new scientific and technical knowledge in the sector. Students, professors and master's or doctoral researchers, as well as public and private research institutions, can participate. The notice is valid for all of Brazil.
The program is different from Agrocientista, also from Aprosoja, which focuses exclusively on master's and doctoral students from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) and the State University of Mato Grosso (Unemat).
“Before, we received proposals for research incentives or assistance throughout the year and, at the nearest Property Management and Research Commission meeting, this request was presented and the group members decided whether we would support it or not. With this notice, we are scheduling these requests. Furthermore, there are requests in which researchers do not want financial resources, but rather assistance from Aprosoja for data collection”, explains the Research, Property Management and Sustainability manager, Marlene Lima.
With the launch this week, proponents will have until July 31, 2018 to submit their requests. In total, Aprosoja defined five major possible areas/themes. They are: sustainable soil management and the impact on productivity; techniques and technologies for monitoring, managing and controlling pests, diseases and weeds in soybean and corn crops; methods for grain quality classification; agricultural and logistics policy; and sustainability.
