The Brazilian Association of Soy Producers promoted this Friday (5/8) the 1st Brazilian Congress of Soy Producers (CBPS 2022). The event took place at the Brasil 21 Events Center, in Brasília, and brought together around 200 rural producers associated with the 16 state Aprosojas.

The central objective was to approve the entity's national agenda for the next four years, in addition to reinforcing the role of sustainability as a competitive differentiator for Brazilian soy.

The morning part of the Congress was dedicated to presenting scientific data to producers and representatives of the diplomatic corps from countries that consume Brazilian soy, including South Africa, Germany, Egypt, the Netherlands, Malta, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Russia and Turkey.

In the sustainability panel, the researcher from the Department of Soil Science at the Higher School of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (Esalq/USP), professor Carlos Eduardo Cerri, presented a study that highlights the role of soy as an ally in reducing changes climate change through carbon sequestration.

Afterwards, agronomist and researcher Gustavo Spadotti, from Embrapa, spoke about land use and occupation in Brazil and reinforced the importance of environmental services provided by rural producers and their benefits as a differentiator for Brazilian soy.

In the second panel, consultant Jeferson Souza, from Agrinvest, provided an overview that explains the reasons for the increase in the price of fertilizers in the world.

Next, the director of consultancy Pátria Agronegócios, Matheus Pereira, presented the scenario on the behavior of soybean and corn prices to Brazilian producers.

In the afternoon, Aprosoja Brasil promoted an assembly, in which the entity's agenda for the next four years was deliberated, including matters being processed in the National Congress such as the Defensive Law projects (PL 1.459/2022), Environmental Licensing (PL 2.159 /2021), among others.
