Fernando Adorno takes up position in Syngenta's corn sector
Agronomist returns to the company where he worked for more than 11 years
The technical fungicide penflufen (penflufen) had a toxicological evaluation approved by Anvisa. The order was from Bayer. The German company also requested the registration of a fungicide with a commercial name Evergol Max for use in soybean and corn crops. This product has a mixture of penflufen and trifloxystrobin as its active ingredient.
Penflufen is an alkylamide fungicide belonging to the pyrazole-carboxamide subclass. It is mobile in the xylem and has systemic properties that affect target pests by inhibiting succinate dehydrogenase (SDH), a key enzyme in fungal respiration and energy production. SDH inhibitors are currently classified in group 7 by the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC Group 7).
The Evergol trademark, in Brazil, has been registered in the name of Bayer ("Bayer Intellectual Property GMBH") since 2004.
Bayer had requested registration of technical penflufen in 2010. But it withdrew that request in 2017. And it requested it again in 2022.
Assessments from Ibama and the Ministry of Agriculture are still lacking for commercial release of the product.
Through Resolution-RE 3.689/2023, from the general management of toxicology, the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) approved the toxicological evaluation for the purposes of product registration Emesto Prime, from Bayer. It was classified as category 5 (unlikely to cause acute harm).
The active ingredient (active ingredient) of Emesto Prime is penflufen (penflufen). His registration request was for the application of crops such as: alfalfa, cotton, aracacha, rice, oats, ryegrass, potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, canola, rye, barley, chayote, peas, beans, sunflower, chickpeas, yams, linseed, cassava, corn, mustard, evening primrose, soybeans, sorghum, lupins, triticale and wheat.
The Emesto trademark, in Brazil, has been registered in the name of Bayer ("Bayer Intellectual Property GMBH") since 2013.
