Ways of managing micronutrients in sugarcane are the subject of an IAC Workshop
The Agronomic Institute (IAC) will hold the Micronutrients Workshop in Sugarcane, on October 06th and 07th, 2021
Only seven Brazilian states concentrate 75% of grain storage within rural properties. The majority (29%) are grouped in Mato Grosso. This is some of the information obtained in the study Analysis of Storage Units in Agricultural Establishments, the result of work carried out in the project of the Strategic Territorial Intelligence System of Brazilian Agricultural Macrologistics (SITE-MLog).
The “portrait” of storage in agricultural establishments (numbers, spatialization across the territory, volume capacity, among others) was presented, on August 18, to the Thematic Chamber of Agribusiness Infrastructure and Logistics, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply ( CTLog/Map).
The deputy head of Research and Development at Embrapa Territorial, Lucíola Magalhães, gave a brief presentation on the objective and main results of SITE-MLog. The online platform allows quick access to maps and data, generated from georeferenced databases, which reveal the infrastructure used by agribusiness to transport crops.
Lucíola Magalhães highlighted the importance of SITE-MLog for planning and decision-making by public and private managers with a focus on agricultural production, export of agricultural products, harvest paths to the external market and logistical basins. She also highlighted the new studies being carried out, which include analyzes of inputs (conventional fertilizers and silicate agrominerals) and agroenergy production and logistics.
The researcher from Embrapa's Intelligence and Strategic Relations Secretariat, Milena Ramos, showed the data and analyzes related to storage units in agricultural establishments, which constitute an important element of support for producers and the post-harvest agricultural logistics system.
Based on statistics and indicators, originating from the 2017 Agricultural Census, the profile of establishments, the storage structure and the state's position/role in the agricultural infrastructure and logistics system were drawn up.
According to Milena Ramos, with this initial portrait of storage in agricultural establishments, it is possible to measure the degree of difference in types of storage units (silos, conventional, bulk and inflatables) between the states, which highlights the characteristic heterogeneity of Brazilian agriculture.
“With these statistics and indicators, we can quantify the storage system. This is important to support further studies or more in-depth analyses, and also to support decisions by producers and managers”, stated the researcher.
The president of the Agribusiness Infrastructure and Logistics Thematic Chamber, Edeon Ferreira, said that Embrapa always presents important studies for discussion by the collegiate. To continue the debate, new meetings with the group are being scheduled.
“The richness of SITE-MLog is the constant dialogue with the sector so that the studies carried out cover the main demands and, in addition to reflecting the complexity of the national territory, also point out equipotential and equiproblematic situations that must be taken into account in national planning, whether public or private”, said the head of Research and Development at Embrapa Territorial.
