The state of São Paulo stands out as one of the main large-scale fruit and vegetable producing centers, as shown in the Cenário Hortifrúti 2018 report. Regions close to Campinas, such as Holambra, Sumaré and Mogi Guaçu, in addition to Mogi das Cruzes near São Paulo , are the protagonists of tomato and leafy crops, points out agronomist Marcos Revoredo, technical manager specializing in horticulture at Alltech Crop Science.
As they are crops produced close to urban centers and in many cases consumed in natura, management requires specific care from the farmer, such as attention to visual aspects and reducing the use of pesticides. In this scenario, Revoredo recommends the use of natural solutions based on amino acids, which can be great allies for the producer in the search for quality.
In tomato cultivation, for example, these tools stimulate the plant, promoting the accumulation of reserves in the fruit and other reserve organs, resulting in better flavor and visual appearance. “In addition to being attractive for the table product, the color is necessary for industrial tomatoes, as the rump needs to be red and the more uniform the color, the better it will be for industrial performance in the production of tomato paste, ketchups, among others. others”, says Revoredo.
As for vegetables, another benefit of using natural solutions is the reduction of stress factors during cultivation. “Hardwoods, grown around large urban centers, require natural products that promote greater nutrient absorption and balance in plant growth physiology. Therefore, it is a need for the region to always seek good management so that the plant can achieve better development and achieve good productivity”, explains Revoredo.
The aforementioned technologies and others will be presented by Alltech Crop Science at the 26th Hortitec, a technical horticulture exhibition that will take place from June 26th to 28th, in Holambra (SP). To assist producers present at the fair, the company's technical team will be on site with a stand to answer questions about solutions and crop management.
Among these tools is Honey, a product recently launched by Alltech Crop Science, which has specific amino acids in its composition, in addition to the nutrients potassium, boron and molybdenum. “These elements promote a better nutritional balance, giving the plant a greater capacity to transport its reserves to the final drain, which are the fruits”, highlights Revoredo. In this way, it contributes to better filling, weight, °brix and color of the fruit pulp.
