Rural producers in Mato Grosso do Sul had sold, until February 10, 46,5% of the 2019/20 soybean harvest. According to a survey by Granos Corretora, there was an increase of 8 percentage points compared to the index presented in the same period of the 2018/19 harvest. This is the theme of this Monday's Agricultural Market (17).
The average price of a bag in February was R$73,63, compared to the same period last year. The nominal increase was 10,6%, when a bag of oilseed had been quoted, on average, at R$66,53. “Grain prices have risen and remain supported by strong demand, the low soybean surplus and the appreciation of the American currency”, says technical analyst at Sistema Famasul, Bruna Dias.
Until the second week of February, Mato Grosso do Sul sold 3,5 thousand tons of soybeans. China appears as the main destination, with 90,1% of total exports of this commodity and, followed by Thailand, with 9,8% of revenue.
Harvest Launch – Aprosoja/MS and the Famasul System announced, on Friday (14), in Campo Grande, the prospects for the 2019/2020 soybean harvest. According to a survey by SIGA/MS (Agribusiness Geographic Information System), the estimate is that production will be 9,9 million tons, a record in Mato Grosso do Sul, with an increase of 12,5% in relation to the cycle previous.
The survey indicates that, this harvest, the planted area will be 3,1 million hectares, an increase of 6,18% compared to last season, which was 2,9 million hectares. Productivity should be 52,1 bags per hectare.
Famasul System's technical analyst, Tamiris Azoia, explains that the increase in planting area is beneficial for the state. “The expansion of soybean cultivation in Mato Grosso do Sul has occurred on degraded pastures, which generates agronomic, social and environmental benefits."
According to the technical department, the soybean harvest has already reached around 5% across the state, which is the 5th largest soybean producer in the country. In the top positions are Mato Grosso, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Goiás.
