ConnectFARM, a technology company from Rio Grande do Sul for agribusiness, was invited by the Sebrae Sustainability Center (CSS) and the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) to join the Brazilian delegation that will participate in the 27th United Nations Conference on Climate Change. COP-27 takes place from November 6th to 18th in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and its main objective is to limit global warming. Brazil will present cases of agricultural efficiency, including that of AgTech, born in Rio Grande do Sul, which makes agronomic recommendations based on data to more than 500 producers across the country.

The company was selected by the national reference unit of the Sebrae System, which suggested strategic work on carbon mitigation, low-emission agriculture and new technologies to increase productivity and sustainability in the field to the government's portfolio. Furthermore, the work with a proprietary algorithm, the Environmental Management Index (IGA), which cross-references information on soil, plant and environmental attributes to estimate the productive potential of each plot, also caught the entity's attention.

The CEO of ConnectFARM, Rodrigo Franco Dias, travels on Friday (04/11) to Egypt, where he joins the Brazilian delegation in Africa. On the Empreendedor Sebrae stage of “Strategies and Sources of Financing for Clean Energy in Brazil, on October 9th, he will present the panel “Measurement and Sustainable Management Techniques for Carbon Fixation in the Soil in Agricultural Production of Biodiesel and Ethanol”. Results of agronomic consultancy work on more than 1,5 million hectares in ten states in the country and in partnerships with the multinationals Bayer and Syngenta, for the application of conservation agriculture, through cover crops, in biomes such as the Cerrado and the Pampa.

According to the executive director, the invitation is the result of work aligned with AgTech's purpose. “We are a technology company focused on maximizing recommendations through our proprietary algorithm, to promote more assertive harvest planning, management and governance over management and decision-making processes, to obtain greater productivity and carbon sequestration. All within a context of regenerative agriculture and environmental sustainability. Therefore, participating in COP-27, in addition to an old desire, is something very aligned with our work,” he declared.

Recognition as a B Company

ConnectFARM was recently recognized as a Certified B Company by B Lab, an international non-profit organization that promotes businesses that generate positive impact. The company's innovation was highlighted in the BIA — an acronym in English for Business Impact Analysis, for reconciling agricultural efficiency with special attention to climate change, the COP's main agenda. In the report, B Lab valued the work of disseminating AgTech knowledge, through the broad provision of data to rural producers.

Only 280 companies in Brazil have certification, including Natura, Reserva, Danone and Gerdau Summit — there are eight thousand currently seeking certification. There are around 5,2 businesses with the B brand in the world in 80 countries — 500 in Latin America.
