AgTechs, as technology startups for agribusiness were named, already form a group of around 300 companies in the country. Rio Grande do Sul ranks second in the country when it comes to startups, behind only São Paulo.
In this scenario, Elysios Agricultura Inteligente emerged, a startup from Rio Grande do Sul dedicated to making agriculture more connected and accessible for producers.
The young entrepreneurs reveal that the solutions developed by Elysios originate from a real difficulty faced in tomato production by one of the partners, but it was with the union of friends with different expertise that the idea took the form of a business.
“We realized that automation was necessary if we wanted to venture into this segment of agriculture and continue with the progress of our work and studies. We brought together colleagues from engineering, computer science, with knowledge in the Internet of Things and Statistics”, highlights Levi Trevisan, one of the company's founders.
Now, they're holding their first Field Day in the tomato greenhouse where it all began. The purpose of the event, scheduled for March 16th in Taquara (RS), is to present a closed cultivation of semi-hydroponic tomatoes with the Demetra sensing and automation system, putting the concept of Agriculture 4.0 into practice.
One of the objectives of the meeting is to present the project to build the area as the Campos Elysios Experimental Center. “Currently, there are 180m² of vines and we are thinking about increasing this space, as well as implementing citrus, walnut and olive trees”, adds Fernando Rauber, responsible for the company's agronomic area and cultivation at the Experimental Center.
