The 2021% digital Tocantins Agrotechnological Fair - Agrotins 100 carries out two activities to discuss the potential of rock dust in Tocantins, to serve small farmers as a replacement for chemical fertilizers. The fair starts this Tuesday, 15th, and ends on Friday, 18th, on the virtual platform: www.agrotins.to.gov.br.

According to the director of Agrotechnology, Social Technologies and Biodiversity at the State Secretariat for Agriculture, Livestock and Aquaculture (Seagro), Fernando Garcia, including these agrominerals in fertilization practices can become a viable strategy to increase fertility, making the soil more productive. and reducing production costs. “In addition to minimizing the environmental risk inherent in the use of soluble fertilizers by reducing their use, it is also a regionally accessible and lower-cost product, being an important way to increase the socioeconomic inclusion of family farmers”, he details.

Seagro's Technological Development manager, Valéria Mota, highlights that the use of rock dust as a source of potassium in agriculture would strengthen mining companies in the State. “And this way it would be possible to generate employment, as the use of these rocks, as ore, has value. The technology benefits small and large farmers at a low cost as long as their rural property is located close to an area where the rock occurs,” she explains.

Mineral

Rock dust acts on soils and plants. It is a mineralizer that helps restore minerals, improving soil conditions at a lower cost, as the rock is rich in micro and macro nutrients. This mixture in the soil alters soil fertility levels. Agricultural professionals are already observing the positive results obtained with the use of mineralizers, especially in soybean cultivation.

Agenda

The program includes two activities involving the same subject, lecture and seminar, which will be available every day from the 15th to the 18th, on the platform: www.agrotins.to.gov.br – in the Field of Knowledge space.

Participants

The event will feature the participation of Embrapa Cerrados researcher, Eder Martins; and the agronomist known as Antônio Bizão, graduated from the Federal University of Viçosa (MG), among others.
