Agroindustry grows less than expected, points out FGVAgro

FGVAgro released today (21/12) the results of its monthly survey on Agroindustry. In October/2022, agro-industrial production expanded 3,9% compared to the same month of the previous year, corresponding to the eighth consecutive growth.

The month's advance was exclusively due to the food products sector (up 12,2%) which, in addition to having a narrow comparison base (sharp drop in October/2021), grew 4,0% compared to September/ 2022 (seasonally adjusted).

The beverage sector (-5,9%) and the non-food products segment (-0,5%) failed to register year-on-year growth, despite also having a relatively small comparison base.

With the month's result, Agroindustry accumulates an increase of 1,1% in the year.

Since the performance of beverages and non-food products was lower than projected, Agroindustry growth in 2022 is expected to be below the base scenario (2,2%) published in the previous release, but still well above the scenario pessimistic (0,8%).
