Central-West Agroeconomic Report is released

Representatives of the four institutions that make up the “Agroeconomic Alliance” met last Thursday (18/02) to release the Central-West Agroeconomic Report – 4th Quarter of 2020. The following entities are part of the alliance: Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA), Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), Institute for Strengthening Agriculture in Goiás (Ifag) and Federation of Agriculture and Livestock Mato Grosso do Sul (Famasul). Due to guidelines from official bodies for the prevention of Covid-19, the meeting was virtual.

Created in 2018, the “Agroeconomic Alliance” aims to disseminate information to rural producers and all organizations linked to the agricultural sector in decision-making.

The 4th quarter report presents the balance of annual and quarterly exports, impacts of rain in the 2020/21 harvest, balance of the beef cattle market, production cost statistics, domestic and international markets, among others. The analyzes are focused on the Midwest.

Faced with a Covid-19 pandemic scenario, agribusiness supported exports and maintained jobs in the country. The Central-West region was responsible for 26,3% of Brazilian agribusiness exports in the 4th quarter of 2020, with Mato Grosso being the state with the highest share, 16,38%, Goiás with 5,11%, Mato Grosso do Sul 4,75 .0,09% and the Federal District with XNUMX%.

Due to the delay in rain in the Central-West region, soybean sowing was hampered, which should reflect on the productivity of the crop and also on second-crop commodities.

In livestock, during the 4th quarter of 2020, an average value of R$ 254,24 was recorded for the arroba of the beef and R$ 244,51 for the arroba of the cow, reflecting an appreciation of 40,6% and 45,3% , respectively, when compared to the 1st quarter of the same year and an increase of 47,8% and 50,7% when compared to the 4th quarter of 2019 in this region.
