AgroBrasília will hold, on February 15th, starting at 8:30 am, the Soy Cultivar Field Day, a traditional competition that aims to show producers the materials brought by companies, as well as an opportunity to present quality materials that adapt to the climate and soil of the region.
The cultivar competition, promoted by the Agricultural Cooperative of the Federal District Region (Coopa-DF), in partnership with Emater-DF, helps rural producers in making decisions for the next harvest and integrates the activities of AgroBrasília, the largest and most important agribusiness fair in the Central Plateau.
The competition allows producers to learn about materials planted on the same date, and under the same conditions. “This competition is very important, as we can evaluate the different materials and it helps us a lot in making decisions about the materials that will be planted in the next harvest”, explains producer Paulo Roberto Bonato.
This year, 59 soybean cultivars were planted, 4 RR and 55 PRO-Intacta, planted in 1st. November 2018 in an area of one thousand m2 to cultivate.
This year's competition brings together 15 large agribusiness companies that present the latest in technology, quality and development of soybean seeds. They are: Agro Vitória/Grapa, Arena Sementes, Basf, Brevant, Coopadap, Dois Marcos, Embrapa, FT Sementes, Guaia, KWS, Macro Seeds, Mercantil Agrícola, Nidera Seeds (licensing), Nidera Sementes and Sementes WB.
All cultivars receive the same care regarding fertilization, application of herbicides and material treatment, ensuring fair competition. The results of the competition, as well as the numbers, will be announced during the Fair.
“Quality seeds were planted, with seed treatment carried out by the participating company itself. Several cultivars are already in the R 5.3 reproductive phase and all materials are corresponding very well, even with the drought in January”, says Roberto Gonçalves, agricultural technician at Coopa-DF.
Field Day is being sponsored by the companies Bayer, Dimiagro Fertilizandos, KLF, Koppert do Brasil and Mosaic.
