Fundecitrus holds HLB course in Olímpia
Citrus growers will be trained to treat the disease efficiently and economically
The Competition Field Day, which will be held on March 04th in front of Coopa-DF, is an opportunity for producers in the region to learn about the best soybean cultivar options available on the market.
The credibility of the Competition is due to the equal treatment given by the team to each plot of soybeans. They were planted at the same time (on the 13th and 14th of November last) and received, strictly, the same care with fertilization and application of herbicides. Therefore, the productivity results of the cultivars obtained in these trials help producers when deciding which material to plant in the next harvest in search of increasingly better yields.
Carlos Vitor Silva, coordinator of the Competition, highlights that “once planted under the same soil conditions, pest management, fertilization and training, it is possible to evaluate the cultivars that have better production capacity, greater resistance to diseases, less lodging and less dehiscence". Knowing the performance of each cultivar, according to these criteria, is extremely important for the producer when choosing which material to plant in his field.
According to farmer and agronomist William Thomas, from Tabatinga, “the event is important because it helps us make decisions regarding the material to be planted, how and in what quantity, according to our land. This is its biggest contribution, because we would not be able to carry out such a complete test with so many companies. I planted two cultivars that I saw there and, apparently, the crop is very beautiful."
In an area of 15 hectares, thirty materials were planted, nineteen varieties of RR Intacta soybeans and eleven varieties of RR soybeans. The companies participating in this edition are: Agro Vitória/Agroeste, Bayer, Brasmax, Coodetec, Nidera, Dois Marcos and Embrapa. The competition is sponsored by the companies Dimicron, Koppert and Santa Clara. The final result of the competition will be announced on the first day of AgroBrasília 2016, which takes place between the 10th and 14th of May.
