Grain production and the participation of the agricultural sector in the State's economy are highlights in the February 2020 edition of the Agro em dados newsletter, published this Monday, February 3, by the Government of Goiás, through the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa). Statistics are presented from the fourth survey of the 2019/2020 grain harvest, in which Goiás remains the fourth largest producer in the country, with an estimated production of more than 24 million tons, which accounts for 9,9% of national production . “One of the highlights is soybeans, as there is an expectation of 5,4% growth in production, representing almost 50% of the entire grain harvest in Goiás”, assesses the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Antônio Carlos by Souza Lima Neto.

The bulletin also contains data relating to international trade, in which agriculture represents more than 76% of everything exported in the State. Furthermore, in this edition, it is shown that agriculture is the main activity in 77 municipalities. This means that, 'within the gate', the sector represents almost R$20 billion of the State's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Prepared by the Market Intelligence Management of Seapa's Sustainable Rural Production Superintendence, with support from the Secretariat's Sector Communication, the monthly newsletter brings together data from the main research institutes and databases of Brazilian agribusiness, with a focus on the State of Goiás. In this edition, it is also possible to observe the issue of the real prices of some products, in addition to information on Gross Production Value (VBP) and sales. There is also data from the jurisdictions – Emater, Ceasa and Agrodefesa.

Agro em dados - February 2020 is available on the Seapa website: www.agricultura.go.gov.br.
