Agrivalle, a bioinputs company, presents to the market the microbiological nematicide Profix, composed of three microorganisms – two bacteria (Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis) and a fungus (Purpureocillium lilacinum), with WP formulation, and now used for sugarcane. sugar.

The product is intended to be used in the most diverse planting and ratoon cutting seasons, as due to its composition, it promotes effective control of the most diverse phases of existing phytonematodes, eggs and juveniles, regardless of the time of use.

Due to this composition, Profix has multiple forms of action against this pest, often hidden in the system, as explained by Thales Facanali, product and innovation manager at Agrivalle: "In the composition, bacteria are responsible for promoting root protection, preventing the free phase of phytonematodes reaches the roots, making it impossible for them to complete their cycle and, the fungus, has the function of predator, or better said, hyperparasitic action of eggs and females and therefore, it is placed in the system to reduce the reproduction factor of phytonematodes", he explains.

A second potential of Profix is related to longevity. While chemical nematicides have a shock effect, with a short period of action, especially when it comes to perennial crops, biological ones can act more completely, multiplying and colonizing the system, as long as there are active roots and conditions to establish themselves. , which is essential for sugarcane cultivation, as it will remain for at least 365 days until its first cut. "Another benefit is that using Profix when planting the crop, in addition to the effective control of phytonematodes, the microorganisms will provide better root development and use of soil nutrients, due to their multiple interactions between soil-environment and plant, enhancing the development of culture at the stage when it most needs tools, with these added benefits, the producer gains in the longevity of his sugarcane field, being able to offer one more cut before its renovation", says Thales.

In the ratoon phase, the use of this solution is also contributory, because by repopulating the soil biota more frequently, offering a better increase in soil regeneration, through inundative control, the productivity gains of ratoon cane are as expressive as in its first cut.

“The management of phytonematodes is a major challenge, as we need to integrate different tools to be successful and obtain good production. Profix, the most distinct and complete product among biological products, was created so that producers can have more security by including different modes of action in their nematode management and so that sugarcane producers can increase their productivity”, concludes Thales.
