Agrivalle, a bioinputs company in Brazil, launches Twixx-A, the first multisite biofungicide with two bacteria, easy to apply and with a broad spectrum of control for foliar diseases in soybean, corn, beans and cotton crops. With an unprecedented composition, Twixx-A provides control and protection, so that the plant is better prepared to combat pathogens. In its composition, two bacteria are found, which help in the management of resistance to diseases such as anthracnose, white spot and target spot.
"We recently managed to register this innovative biofungicide. It is the result of more than 5 years of work in the agro sector, with the aim of meeting the needs of producers in sustainable, easy-to-apply solutions that are effective in controlling foliar diseases and , not least, to be included in the rotation and management of fungicide resistance” - explains Dr. Eduardo Bernardo, director of Research and Development at Agrivalle.
Agrivalle brings innovation into its DNA through the creation of formulations in biological products. Always thinking about the needs of the producer, who today lacks alternatives in the management of multisite protective fungicides. Twixx-A seeks to employ the protection of crop productivity in a sustainable manner, with the help of beneficial microorganisms, providing the plant with sufficient tools to be able to express its maximum genetic production potential.
“Twixx-A has an exclusive formulation of beneficial microorganisms that take the place of foliar pathogens, through competition for space and nutrients on the surface of the leaves, producing metabolites with a fungicidal effect and stimulating the plant to produce defense compounds. It also allows the plant to express its maximum productive potential, stimulating its plant growth provided by the phytonic effect, contributing to productivity gains” – explains Thales Facanali Martins, Market Development Manager at Agrivalle.
The composition of the two strains, showed in initial studies, that the new fungicide presents an increase in productivity and protection by a microphobic biofilm, that is, involving the structures and providing long-lasting prevention due to its residual non-washing effect.
Among the modes of action of the new multisite are competition and antibiosis, which can be for nutrients or space. In other words, the bacillus is capable of using carbon and nitrogen sources more intelligently than phytopathogens, obtaining advantages and using the quality of the biofilm as a benefit, which also helps with the issue of competition for space. In this way, it begins to occupy places where diseases could take hold. Antibiosis, on the other hand, causes bacillus to act to produce substances that inhibit the proliferation and multiplication of diseases.
"We also find the induction of resistance and promotion of growth, which is when bacillus help with plant growth, largely due to the ability of microorganisms to produce substances that promote cell elongation and also support the plant's systems in the growth cycle. nitrogen, carbon and making phosphate available to the plant", explains Eduardo.
With Twixx-A, Agrivalle believes that the producer will have access to a tool that will enable him to have longer-lasting and sustainable crops, thus being able to obtain even more productive increases, productivity protection and reduction of diseases in the agricultural area as a whole, since the bacteria present in the products will continue to act in the soil and straw, helping the producer.
