Agrivalle, a company in the bioinputs segment (biological products, plant nutrition, adjuvants and inoculants), with a project to expand production capacity by 60% over a period of 5 years, has been seeking new resources to invest in its new factory.

Being in the biological segment, and aiming to promote sustainability for agribusiness, the company contracted an ESG Linked Loan with Santander Brasil, a credit aimed at companies that set goals to reduce their impacts on the environment.

"We carried out this operation with great satisfaction. It is very important that we are framed within something that we believe in as the value of the company and practice. We always aim to direct our actions towards medium and long-term investments that cause positive impacts on society as a whole", he explains Flávio Maia, CFO of Agrivalle.

As a bank that in 2020 enabled more than R$27 billion in sustainable businesses – which includes renewable energy operations, low-carbon agriculture, green loans, ESG linked loans, green bond issuances, microcredit and is a pioneer in financing projects solar generation – Santander Brasil was recently recognized as one of the financial institutions that provides the most financing with these characteristics.

"We are today considered one of the largest ESG banks. Looking at the environmental, social and governance spheres is part of a gradual process of gaining awareness and developing new solutions. We are very clear that credit, linked to education and financial information , is a powerful tool for generating economic growth and prosperity. We were pioneers in bringing a sustainability perspective to our relationships with customers and society. Our way of operating puts into perspective possible and important advances for the whole of society, which generate positive impact for customers", says Caroline Learth, responsible for the Sustainability area at Santander Brasil.

The acronym ESG brings with it the offer of balance in relationships with the various actors in the production chain, with the aim of generating a healthier environment for consumer relations. And like the entire market, "green businesses" have been increasingly in demand. "In this way, a factory of products aimed at producers in the field, which aims to ensure the longevity of crops, falls within the scope of certification, promoting, in addition to expansion, carbon reduction in operations. Therefore, every company that commits to This reduction in carbon emission liabilities, but also proves this through external audit, becomes even more attractive in the eyes of the market and with increasingly demanding consumers, the impact is on the entire production chain", concludes Flávio.
