The public call aims to train entrepreneurs at an early stage of business, in order to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the São Francisco Valley, supporting the development of startups in five pillars: journey, problem, business modeling, model definition and strategy solution validation.
Projects can be prepared by individuals and/or legal entities from all over Brazil, as long as they are submitted by teams or startups with at least one member from the state of Pernambuco or Bahia. There will also be priority for initiatives coming from municipalities belonging to the Integrated Administrative Region for the Development of the Petrolina and Juazeiro Pole (RIDE), namely: Petrolina, Lagoa Grande, Santa Maria da Boa Vista, Orocó, Juazeiro, Sobradinho, Curaça and Casa Nova.
Initiatives from members residing close to the Agritech.NE Platform co-working spaces at the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE) and Universidade de Pernambuco (UPE), Petrolina campus will also be prioritized.
Proposals must focus on solutions that feature at least one of the following technologies: artificial intelligence, data sciences and analytics, cloud computing, robotics and automation, predictive maintenance, augmented and/or virtual reality, renewable energy, smart sensors, Internet of Things, 5G networks and optical networks, and digital twins. The selection of projects will be made by a panel with members from Sebrae/PE, Cetene, Sudene, SECTI/PE, MCTI, MDR, Univasf, UFRPE, UPE, IFSertão-PE and Embrapa Semiárido. The results will be announced on June 22nd.
According to Daniela Campeche, researcher at Embrapa Semiárido and one of the coordinators of the Agritech.NE Platform, the program aims to train professionals in the region to meet agricultural demands for innovative technologies and solutions. Campeche highlights the importance of the project for the São Francisco Valley. “It’s about helping the Valley’s human resources develop, contributing to regional growth.”
She recommends that participants evaluate the notice carefully, especially with regard to challenges, an item designed to guide proponents in the construction of projects. “The challenges presented were raised based on work carried out, as a goal of the project”, adds Campeche.
The Agritech NE Platform is an action of the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR), which has the involvement of Codevasf, Sudene, Embrapa Semiárido; UPE; IFPE Sertão, Univasf and State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation of Pernambuco (Secti-PE), and Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA).
